Quant’s 109% Surge: Can It Sustain Its Lead Over XRP?

You watch two digital assets, one doubling in value, the other sliding back. Over the past 30 days, Quant has rocketed 109.5% while XRP has fallen 16.2%. The move on October 26 was especially sharp. Quant’s price jumped 18.1% in 24 hours to reach $217, the largest daily gain since late September.

This surge occurred without any fresh news. The most recent update from the company was a simple conference recap days earlier. The real fuel for Quant’s rally was lit a month prior. On September 24, The Clearing House, a payments company owned by 25 major U.S. banks, selected Quant’s technology for its On-Chain Money Initiative.

This project aims to move tokenized deposits, digital versions of traditional bank money, on a blockchain network. Quant’s Overledger platform will act as the crucial coordination layer, connecting this new system to the existing payment rails banks rely on every day. Founder Gilbert Verdian called tokenized deposits the “de facto way banks move money on-chain.” By September 28, UK Finance confirmed that live sterling payments using the technology had succeeded.

That validation sent the market into a frenzy. Between September 20 and September 27, QNT soared from $64 to an intraday high of $372. The October 26 spike, however, lacked a similar catalyst. Market data shows thin trading overnight before a burst of activity just before U.S. markets opened. Approximately $3 million worth of QNT changed hands in one busy hour. With only 14.6 million tokens in circulation, even modest buying pressure can create large price swings.

This type of move often hints at short sellers scrambling. Traders who borrowed QNT to bet on a price drop may have been forced to buy back their positions, amplifying the upward move. Yet no significant liquidations were reported that day, leaving the exact trigger unclear.

The rally pushed Quant past a key psychological barrier. It broke through the $200 mark and topped its October 21 high, peaking at $224.62. But the volume tells a cautionary tale. During the September peak, over 800,000 QNT traded in a day. On October 25, that figure was around 55,100. The recent surge appears built on thinner ice.

Quant’s history is a rollercoaster. After its September high of $372, it crashed to $179 by October 24. Even with the latest jump, it remains down 5.5% over the past two weeks. Analysts also noted a concerning signal in late September. Wallets dormant for over three years began moving tokens to exchanges, a classic precursor to selling.

The contrast with the broader market is stark. While Bitcoin and Ethereum lost ground over the month, Quant exploded. This outperformance stems partly from its structure. QNT has a small, limited float. A little demand goes a long way. XRP exists in a much larger, more liquid market. It takes substantial capital to move its price meaningfully.

Their fundamental designs are diverging too. Quant is becoming embedded in the plumbing of traditional finance, connecting bank ledgers to blockchains. XRP’s role is evolving. Ripple’s recent partnerships focus more on its RLUSD stablecoin than on the XRP token itself. One project is building the bridge for banks. The other’s primary token is waiting for banks to decide to cross it.

Quant’s current lead is real, but its foundation is narrow. The entire rally hinges on the successful launch of The Clearing House network, which isn’t slated to open to banks until the first half of 2027. All recent price action is a bet on that future utility.

For QNT to sustain its advantage over XRP, it must hold the ground it just reclaimed. A daily close above the recent $224.62 peak could signal new, committed buyers entering the market. The immediate line in the sand is $200. If Quant falls back below that level before October ends, it risks signaling a failed breakout, potentially opening a path back down toward $173. In that scenario, XRP could quickly close the performance gap. The next few days will test whether Quant’s surge is the start of a new trend or just a spectacular flash in the pan.
